Those wanting to make a donation or help with the event phone Lynn at 592-6855. There is also still time to donate a turkey or ham for the CJ Cares Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, Nov. 27. The CJ Cares Thanksgiving dinner will be on Thursday, Nov. 27 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Jubilee Park pavilion in Cave Junction. DAWN PATROL - I.V. Citizens Patrol members are out and about most every night to help keep the valley safe, along with sheriff’s deputies. Patrollers are aware of a small group of “bad guys” intent on mischief and breaking the law. The patrol has vowed to stay on duty, and will not tolerate vandalism and other acts against the community. GOODWILL BIKERS - The 21st Illinois Valley Bikers’ Toy Run will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6 from noon to 12 a.m. at the Junction Inn Lounge. “Broadway Phil and the Shouters” will perform, and other activities will include a raffle, auction, poker run and karaoke. Proceeds from the event will be used to buy toys for valley children. UNTIL DAWN - The 2004 Grad Night Party planning committee will meet on Monday, Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m. in the I.V. ROAD RULES - An informal open house to dis- cuss the future of rural Josephine County’s transporta- tion system will be held at IVHS in the Commons Room on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. Notepad - Lovejoy Hospice will present “Blue Holidays -- Grief and Loss Survival Strategies for the Holidays” on Monday, Dec. 8 from 12 to 1 p.m. at the hospice office, 939 S.E. Robin Wilson, Leaandra DiFuria, Wayne Fitzpatrick and Susan Chapp Forestry Action group plans again ‘to do a lot’ With the motto, “Together We Can Do A Lot,” the Forestry Action Committee’s (FAC) Tree- Planting Project is gearing up for its 12th year. Working together this year are Wayne Fitz- patrick, FAC Director Susan Chapp, Robin Wil- son and Leeandra DiFuria. DiFuria joins FAC as this season’s tree-planting and weed coordinator. This is traditionally a seasonal position, but it has been extended this year to incor- porate invasive weeds work. DiFuria’s background as an AmeriCorps Com- munity Resource Coordi- nator for Illinois Valley Safe House Alliance (IVSHA) gives her a firm grasp of volunteer coordi- nation and community col- laboration, said FAC. “I am honored to be working with such a de- voted staff,” DiFuria said of her new position with FAC. Fitzpatrick returns for his seventh season with FAC. He works with land- owners to determine native tree species that will work best for their land. And Wayne has developed a great relationship with the landowners in the valley, and has been instrumental in assuring a smooth tran- sition into my new posi- tion.” “The tremendous vol- unteer base that attends tree-packing days, Volun- teer Tree-Planting Day, and the folks that have pro- vided food for these events are instrumental to the pro- gram,” she added.
