Red- wood Hwy. *Jennifer Lynn Ste- phenson, 42, was cited for driving without liability insurance on Redwood Hwy. near Caves Hwy. *Denise Marshelle Ste- vens, 49, was cited on a charge of not wearing her seatbelt on Redwood Hwy. near Caves Hwy. *On Redwood Hwy. near Hamilton Avenue, Jack Porter Hall, 38, was cited for driving without an operator’s permit. *At Waldo Lookout, Dawn Andrea Soule, 28, was cited on a charge of riding a motorcycle without a helmet. Robert Charles Breakfield, 39, was cited on charges of driving while suspended and without a helmet. *In the 9000 block of Takilma Road a man was warned for trespassing. *In the 1000 block of McMullen Creek Road a woman said a juvenile per- son was refusing to return home. A report was filed for a runaway person. *A woman in the 100 block of Kerby Mainline Road deputies arrested Anthony Grebisz, 15, on a charge of being a runaway person. *In the 200 block of Iron Way a woman said she heard a dozen gunshots and someone yelling. It turned out it was somebody pop- ping balloons. *A man was warned for interfering with an offi- cer in the 200 block of Iron Way. Thursday, Sept. 25 *In the 2000 block of Rockydale Road a woman said her neighbors were playing music too loud. *In the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. a woman said a group of people were threatening to beat up the designated driver of another man in a car. He refused to leave the vehi- cle, and the people threat- ening him eventually left. *In the 500 block of W. River Street an interior fan set off an alarm at the library of Evergreen Ele- mentary. *Deputies pulled a deer off the roadway in the 18000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 3:57 a.m. They contacted Wildlife Images to pick it up. *Machelle Viles Lee, 42, was cited on a charge of violating the basic rule at milepost 34 of Redwood Hwy. *In the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy. a woman said someone came to her house looking for a girl named “Rainbow.” When told that she did not live there the person became irate and eventually fired a gun at her house. No bul- lets hit the house. *At IVHS a woman said her daughter was be- yond parental control after having a bad day at school. The girl was in the princi- pal’s office and her mother was unable to leave work to pick her up. Deputies advised the mother to call Juvenile Services if she runs away or become vio- lent. *Daniel Putnam, 14, was arrested on a charge of Our POT ROAST DINNER is the talk of the town! He was suspended by the school on Sept. 23 for the incident. He was transported to the Juvenile Justice Center in Grants Pass. *In the 1200 block of Illinois River Road a man said he was being blocked access from Deer Creek Ranch despite having pa- perwork granting permis- sion. A woman reportedly placed a firearm in plain view to scare him off. *In the 500 block of S. Redwood Hwy. a woman reported continuing theft from her residence. Items reported missing included jewelry, medications and other items. There was no substantial suspect infor- mation. *A woman said a vehi- cle cut off three other vehi- cles on Deer Creek Road. Deputies were unable to locate it. Friday, Sept. 26 *In the 500 block of Dick George Road, James W. Kendall, 38, was ar- rested on a warrant on original charges of failing to appear on charges of possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a minor. He was transported to Jose- phine County Adult Jail. *At the Illinois Valley Resource Center a woman said a man was beating his head on a steering wheel in the parking lot and his wife was screaming. The vehi- cle then left at a high rate of speed. Deputies were unable to locate the vehi- cle. *Extra patrol was re- quested at IVHS after the previous threat by a stu- dent. *In the 900 block of Naue Way a man reported some fuel was missing from his vehicle. *A man in the 100 block of Gemini Lane said a pistol with a listed value of $400 was missing from his home. *In the 900 block of Naue Way a man said he found a wallet and a small amount of marijuana. Deputies said it belonged to an ex-tenant who was in jail and there was no crime. *A citizen said an in- toxicated man was driving recklessly in a blue truck on Airport Drive at 7:28 p.m. A woman on Red- wood Hwy. near River Street said she saw the same man. Deputies were unable to locate him. MIDDLE SCHOOL’S FINEST -- Lorna Byrne Middle School in Cave Junction honored several youngsters with Student of the Month awards for September recently. (Photo by Britt Fairchild) RCC to offer Home-buying instruction ACCESS Inc. and the Southern Oregon Housing Resource Center will pre- sent the “ABC’s of Home- buying” class for first-time home buyers. The class is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18 at Rogue Community Col- lege Redwood Campus in Grants Pass. There is a fee to attend this class. Students receive a cer- tificate of achievement for completing the class. The certificate is a requirement to apply for some first- time home buying loan products and down pay- ment/closing cost assis- tance available to low- income first-time home buyers through Oregon Housing and Community Services. Fox earns Adair Homes’ scholarship This fall, Alicia Fox will, a Lane Community College student moved closer to her goal of ob- taining an engineering de- gree from University of Oregon by earning an Adair Homes’ scholar- ships. Fox was a member of the Key Club and the year book staff at Illinois Valley High School. Adair Homes awarded $8,250 to seven students in Oregon and Washington for the fall 2003 term.
