The season begins on Wednesday, Oct. 1 and runs through Sunday, Oct. 12. Limits are one fish per day and a four-fish total for the 12-day season (Chinook only). Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife estimated more than 2,600 Chinook Salmon have been landed through mid-August. For more information, phone the Port of Brook- ings Harbor at (541) 469- 2218. Diabetes Association The Cave Junction branch of the Jerry Acklen Diabetes Health Associa- tion will meet on Thurs- day, Sept. 11 at 1:30 p.m. at the Illinois Valley Sen- ior Center, 520 E. River St. I.V. Doll Club The I.V. Doll Club did not meet in July. The Au- gust meeting was changed from the 11th to the 14th for a potluck lunch at Maxine Kinnie’s home. After lunch, the members carpooled to Harold Teague’s home to see the dolls his sister Juanita Trout left him. She had won many awards for her dolls and painted china. The next meeting will be on Monday, Sept. 8 at noon in the I.V. Senior Center. Arrangements will be made for a trip to the Jackson Doll Museum. A tentative date of Thursday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. needs to be confirmed. Plans to attend the JJDC sixth annual Doll Show at the Jackson County Expo. Caregivers arrested for theft A Grants Pass care- giver was arrested Tues- day, Aug. 26, for allegedly taking money from her client. Jennifer Dean was ar- rested on six counts of ag- gravated theft in the first degree. Dean was em- ployed as a caregiver for an elderly man in Jose- phine County. From January to Au- gust of 2003, Dean fraudu- lently obtained more than $100,000 from her em- ployer. Some property that Dean purchased with this money has been seized, deputies from the Jose- phine County Sheriff's Of- fice reported. The case is still under investigation. And Linda Lou Ed- wards, 59, of Medford will be appearing in court on Friday, Sept. 12 for alleg- edly stealing $30,000 from a 94-year-old man she was caring for in Medford. Subscribe to the ‘I.V.
