At her request no ser- vices will be held. Private internment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. Arrangements were handled by Farnstrom Mortuary in Independence. Michael Vernard Lager Michael Vernard La- ger, 52, of Selma died on Monday, Aug. 18, 2003 at his residence. Private services were arranged through Illinois Valley Funeral Home. Mr. Lager was born on May 4, 1950 in Douglas, Ariz. He married Shirley Luman on Dec. 6, 2002 in Medford. He moved to Illinois Valley in 2002 from Ash- land. He enjoyed Nature, people, ‘oldies’ music, animals, good barbecue and his family. Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Evelyn Ellison of San Clemente, Calif.; a step- son, Aaron Luman, two sisters, Cheryl Diederick of San Clemente, Calif. and Timberly Kirk, of Wil- sonville, and grandchil- dren. Ray Lavern James Ray Lavern James, 70, of Cave Junction died on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003 at a nursing facility in Grants Pass. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Fri- day, Aug. 29 at Laurel Cemetery in CJ with Pas- tor Wes Winn of First Christian Church officiat- ing. Lundberg’s L.B. Hall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. James was born on April 27, 1933 in Cave Junction. He graduated from Illinois Valley High School in 1954. After high school he attended the Oregon Institute of Tech- nology in Klamath Falls where he graduated with a degree in farming and agri- culture. He worked most of his life at the James Boy’s Farm Home in Cave Junc- tion, handling the dairy and assisting with raising developmentally disabled boys. He also worked for many years for the local theaters in Cave Junction as the reel man. He enjoyed bowling and was a loyal participa- tor in the local bowling leagues. Survivors include his brother, Harold James of Bend, and sister Flora Terpening of Medford. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Being Fed by Jesus, as the 5,000 were, was the easy part.
