Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, April 30, 2003 Page 5 Wildflower hike set for Saturday Les R. Robinson Les R. Robinson, 77, of Cave Junction died Saturday, April 19, 2003 at his home. A private gravesite service was held at Eagle Point National Cemetery. A “Celebration of His Life” service was held on Sat- urday, April 26, at Commu- nity Bible Church, officiated by the Rev. Don Blackburn. Arrangements were made through Illinois Valley Fu- neral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Emphysema Foundation 15 Stevens St., Norwalk CT 06850; and Gide- ons, POB 605 Grants Pass OR 97528. Gideons Visitation was held at the funeral home. Mr. Robinson was born April 27, 1925, in Dixon, Ill. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He moved to Illinois Valley in 1977 from Santa Rosa, Calif. He married Bee Ebersole, in Dixon, Ill. Jan. 1, 1947. He attended Community Bible Church, and was active on the musical Praise Team. He also had his own Country Western band at one time. He operated the Robinson Dry Wall business in Cave Junction. He had his own fa- mous Hot Dog Stand in the downtown area. He also en- joyed fishing and skindiving. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jerry Robinson, of Cave Junction, and Larry Robinson, of Rose- burg, a daughter, Kitty Waud, of Cave Junction; nine grand- children; and seven great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Robin- son, in 1973. On Saturday, May 3 “an easy four-mile” wildflower hike will be led in the Illinois River Canyon by the Native Plant Society of Oregon. Participants should meet at 9 a.m. on the parking lot at Selma Select Market. Al- though the hike will be “easy” on a good trail, the society noted that the slope from the trail to the river “is high and precipitous.” Don Heinze will lead the tour. “Along with other flow- ers, we will see the most ac- c e s s i b l e s t a n d of Kalmiopsis and Western Sopora, rare plants discovered by and named for one of Ore- gon's pioneer botanists, Lila Leach,” said Heinze. A note to all my family and friends: A GIANT Thank You for your continued love and support given me in my darkest hours… To my Dad and Jan: Thank You is not enough, but Thank You. To my kids: Thank You for putting up with me and for being there. To the Pullens and Campbells: You were in a difficult position and came through with flying colors. To: My sisters in BSP, the Ponders, Paul & Arlene, Leroy & Sharon, Helen & Tony, Tubbs & Norma, Donna & John, Dennis & Lorene, the ‘I.V. News’ team, the gang at Carlos’, my wonderful writing class, and so many, many more. Thank You. You are all heroes to me. And to Cindy-Sam… What can I say? Thank You for sharing your life and wonderful family with me. You are ‘my rock’ and ‘the wind beneath my wings’. I will never forget it. Much love to all, Kathy Tygrachet Lorentz Tygrachet Lorentz, 13, of Cave Junction, died Wednes- day, April 23 due to an auto accident in Cave Junction. Arrangements are pending at Illinois Valley Funeral Home. St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church As the joy of Easter con- tinues, the Third Sunday, May 4, will bring the Good News from Luke’s Gospel, where Jesus was made know to his disciples on the road to Em- maus in the breaking of bread. He proved himself to them by showing the wounds on his hands and feet, and even ate some baked fish to further prove he was indeed flesh and bone, not a ghost. Imagine what it must have been like to actually see some- one who had died and come back to life. We see it too; though not in person, but through the words of Scrip- ture.
