Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, March 19, 2003 Page 11 Permits issued St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church As we journey through Lent, we offer the Stations of the Cross on Friday evenings at 7 p.m., including the Friday before Holy Week. The groups participating in Disci- ples in Mission this week will be preparing for the third Sun- day in Lent, reflecting on the Book of Exodus, Chapter 20, which reveals the Ten Com- mandments. They will also read from Psalm 19 that God’s Law is more precious than gold. Good Shepherd Lutheran Discipline, even if only for Lent, is difficult, whether it involves giving up sweets, alcohol or something else. For Jesus, discipline meant even- tually giving up the things people liked him to do: heal the sick and feed the poor. He was sent to die for our sins. How much easier should it be for us to give up a few minor things for Lent? Church activities: Thurs- day, March 20, 6 p.m., Lenten Soup and Study at St. Mathias Episcopal Church; Sunday, March 23, 9 a.m., worship, 10:15 a.m. Sunday school, 6 p.m., high school youth group; Friday, April 4, 7 p.m., Cap- tive Free Family Concert—the community can attend.
