Graduates! Anastasia Brents Mountain View HS (Vancouver, Wash.) Anastasia plans to attend Clark Col- lege in the fall to major in psychology and transfer to a university for her bachelor’s degree. Gavin James Nitzel Cascade HS (Cascade, Idaho) Gavin is the son of B eau and Bran- dee (Logan) Nitzel, and the grandson of Kendall Logan and Vicki Jantzi Konop. Gavin has enlisted in the U.S. Army and heads to boot camp in Jackson, Ga., on Aug. 1. Tanner Godwin Eddyville Charter School (Eddyville, Ore.) Tanner plans to attend a welding trade school this fall. Blake Bellinger Samuel V. Champion HS (Boerne, Texas) Blake plans to live life and be good at it! Julian Hernandez Stayton HS (Stayton, Ore.) Julian joined the Marines and left for basic training in late June. Tyler Godwin Eddyville Charter School (Eddyville, Ore.) Tyler plans to attend Volta Lineman School in Warrenton, Ore. Taylor Baber East Jessamine HS (Nicholasville, Ken.) Taylor plans to attend the University of Kentucky this fall and major in journalism. John Marzan Bensalah Williamson Cosumnes Oaks HS STEM (Elk Grove, Calif.) John is the grandson of Mary Marzan, and the son of Lisa Williamson and Kai Bensalah. He graduated with a 4.0 GPA. John was honored with the Elk Grove Unified School District Native America Program Completion of High School Certificate – one of 36 Native graduates in the school district, which served more than 63,000 students in 2020-21. Great-grandmother Pearl Rilatos often talked to her adult children at the coffee table about the importance of more of our Native children graduating from high school. John is honoring that wish and continues to excel. John was awarded the Golden State Seal Merit Diploma; he is a member of the National Honor Society. He has received numerous academic awards, including first place in Future Business Leaders of Amer- ica Northern California Division for Cyber Security and Introduction to Information Technology. In addition, John’s computer science team came in second for their sub- mission to the Greener Energy High School Competition put on by the Sacramento Municipal Utilities Department. John has been accepted to Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario Canada, and its Honors Computer Science Program. He continues to make his elders proud. Nautica N. Gongloff Mannford HS (Mannford, Okla.) Nautica plans to attend Oklahoma State University. Kalyska Mitchell Phoenix Charter School (Roseburg, Ore.) Kalyska plans to attend Portland Community College and work in the medical field. Shellia Selene Brandt Eddyville Charter School (Eddyville, Ore.) Shellia is the daughter of Robert Brandt and Mandi Harmon, and grand- daughter of Selene Rilatos and Dan Lynch. She plans to attend Oregon Coast Community College in the fall.
