The annual Logsden Community Club Harvest Auction will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 6-9 p.m. The larg- est fundraiser of the year for the Logsden Community Club, this annual event con- tinues to delight those who attend. An abundance of garden-fresh veg- etables and fruit, plants, fresh-baked culinary delights, home canning, unique and one-of-a-kind items, gift certificates and gift-giving items beyond imagination will be included in the auction. The Logsden Community Club donates a portion of its profits back to the community, including to the Siletz Valley Volunteer Firefighters. The Logsden Community Center, located at the junction of the Logsden/ Siletz Highway and Moonshine Park Road, is situated on a historic site where the local school once sat. Today’s facility, built in the 1980s, is available to rent and is a wonderful location for local gather- ings, including weddings, family reunions, memorials and other celebrations. The facility also houses a commercial kitchen for cottage industry entrepreneurs who market culinary items and is a des- ignated emergency shelter. Rental rates for events at the center are reduced for individuals who become members of the Logsden Community Club. The cost to join is $25. Reminder The Siletz Clinic would like to remind parents and guardians that if you send your child to an appointment with someone other than yourself or other legal guardian, you will need to sign a Release of Information. This gives permission for another person to bring your child to appointments and for your child’s provider to discuss the child’s care with them. Children need plenty of sleep to feel and do their best. Getting enough sleep helps them have fewer mood swings and better control of their emotions. It may help them reduce their risk for obesity and diabetes. If your child is older and in school, getting enough sleep will help them think, remember information, solve problems, and learn. Here is how much sleep children should get per day, including naps: • Newborns: 16-18 hours • Toddlers: 12-14 hours • Preschool Age Children: 11-12 hours • School Age Children: At least 10 hours • Teens: 9-10 hours If you have any questions, please call 541-444-1030 or 800-648-0449. Thank you to Brady Wyatt Garcia (Navajo/Acoma) and his family for helping with the photo. Thank you! 20 • Siletz News • October 2017 Produced by the IHS Division of Diabetes Treatment and Prevention, www.diabetes.ihs.gov
