at the Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland, Ore., on June 17-30.
The theme for 2017 was Weaving Images: Basketry and Silkscreen for Indig-

Beaverton, Ore., and Smith, 15, from Portland, were participants. This was Casey’s
third year in the program (pictured below with his art camp creations).
Additional people who led the program included Shirod Younker (Coquille),
Journeys program manager; Pat Courtney-Gold (Wasco/Tlingit), master basket
weaver; Kaila Farrell-Smith (Klamath/Modoc), who helped with gallery techniques
and setup; Tony Johnson (Chinook), indigenous aesthetics teacher; and Jessica
Hickey, who taught silkscreen prints and provided a place for basket weaving.
Casey’s parents are Ticey Mason and Quincy Casey. His grandmother is Pamela
Rilatos and his great-grandma is the late Madge Mason.
Smith’s parents are Theresa and James Smith. Her paternal grandparents are
