This year, STAHS chose to establish an award to honor a person or entity that promotes and preserves cultural awareness. Anne Hall, curator of the North Lincoln County Historical Museum, was selected to receive the honor for 2016. Anne has, throughout her tenure at the museum, researched, displayed, shared and promoted the history of the indigenous peoples of the area with local residents and visitors. She has gone beyond the norm, developing a dialog that includes the history of the original inhabitants of North Lincoln County from before the time of European contact to the present day. Hall was presented with a certificate of appreciation and a traditional pine nut necklace hand crafted by the Viles family.
