From Suzanne DePoe: I refereed the WIAA 1A girls s t a t e ch a m p i o n - ship game – Lynden Christian vs. King’s – in Yakima, Wash., on March 5. What a great experience to referee such a great 1A/2A girls tourna- ment. Great players, coaches and fans. It was amazing. I also refereed the Yakama Tribal School All-Star Boys and Girls games held March 12. Outstand- ing Native student- athletes from local schools competed against each other in Courtesy photo front of the Yakama Suzanne DePoe Nation and local community. Additionally, I refereed at the Gold Medal Tournament in Juneau, Alaska, on March 20-26. The tournament included Native teams from local villages competing against one another for the championship. I was able to bring my aunt, Ilene DePoe Somes, with me to enjoy all the action. Thank you for joining me.
