    Chairman’s Report
Restoration
Thank you to the Restoration Com-
mittee, the Tribal Council, Tribal Elders,
the Pow-Wow Committee and our staff
for making it a great event.

expected to attend as well as representa-
tives from the Bureau of Indian Affairs,
Department of Justice and other agencies.
This will give us an opportunity to
discuss important issues, such as legisla-
tion that is pending and sponsored by Sen.
Ron Wyden. He has asked for comments
from the Tribes.
Other agenda items included education
in Oregon, Tribal mascots, marijuana laws
and effects on Tribes, Tax Reform Act and
any other issues the Tribes bring up.

It is hoped that as we begin the New
Year, Congress will have a plan to replace
sequestration with a real budget.
Tribal elections
Tribal Council elections take place in
February! If you aren’t registered to vote,
you have time to register and vote for the
candidate of your choice.
It is also important to get your appli-
cation in to serve on the Tribal committee
of your choice (see page 3).

Lauren has been the Siletz Youth Mental
Health counselor in the Portland/ Salem
area since May 2009.
We would like to take this
opportunity to give thanks
to a valued member of the CTSI family,
Lauren Patterson. We are sad to
announce the Youth Mental Health
(YMH) program grant ended in Decem-
ber 2013. The YMH program provided a
range of mental health services for Siletz
Tribal members ages 8 to 18. Services
included adventure-based counseling,
horse therapy, challenge courses, white-

Classes begin with basic instruction and progress over the year. They also
are a refresher course for more-advanced students. Come and join other members
of your community and Tribe in learning to speak one of our ancient languages.
We also have equipment in the Cultural Department available for use in
grinding and drilling shell or pine nuts or other applications. If you need to use
the equipment, call the number below to set up an appointment.
