Graduates Ivory Pearson Faryn Case Chiloquin High School in Chiloquin, Ore. Class valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA Will attend Oregon Institute of Tech- nology in Klamath Falls, Ore. Also has signed with OIT to play volleyball. GED graduate, Mt. Hood Community College (Gresham, Ore.) Not caring about high school. I decided to stay another year for sports. What motivated you to graduate? My parents What was your favorite class? Science Did you take a course that taught you personal budgeting? Yes Did you attend Toledo schools for K-12? No, I attended Siletz for seven years. I was at Toledo for high school. What activities did you participate in? Senior year – cross country, track, student body activities director; junior year – swim and track; freshman year – swim Thank You Siletz Tribe for $1,200 for UO Graduates The University Of Oregon – Native American Student Union (NASU) would like to thank the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund for the donation of $1,200 for Pendleton blankets for NASU graduates. They were presented with the blankets at the UO Mother’s Day Pow-Wow. Siletz Tribal member Carson Viles (pictured below, second from the right) is pre- sented with a blanket. There were a number of graduates, including Virginia Beavert (far left), the oldest UO graduate and Yakama Tribal member. Beavert earned her Ph.D. and currently teaches Sahaptin at UO. Love, Mom and Dad OCF has grants for programs that are outside of school time The Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) will award grants ranging from $40,000 to $120,000 per year for three years to Out-of-School Time programs that promote academic success and serve low-income students, students of color and rural students. OCF seeks proposals from Out-of-School Time programs that meet one or both of the following criteria: Utilize quality practices and wish to expand the number of youth they reach and/or wish to deepen the effectiveness of their programming by adopting and integrating evidence-based, culturally specific or culturally adapted best-practice programming.
