SVeCA students honored for grades DePoe referees sixth state title game
On Feb. 15, several Siletz Valley Early College Academy students were honored
for their good grades this past quarter at an assembly in the gymnasium.
Teacher Lorrie Syms presented each of them with a dinner-for-two ticket to the
Siletz Bay Buffet at Chinook Winds Casino Resort. They were all pleased to receive it.
Cecelia DeAnda (senior), San Poil Whitehead (junior), Daniel Lindstrom (fresh-
man), Marita Nash (sophomore), Morgan Crawford (sophomore), Windy Hill (sopho-
more), Steven Lindstrom (senior) and Jordan Chavez (junior) received these honors.
Students received these awards for their good grades and high quarterly GPA. The
academic awards will continue each quarter. Prizes are based on each quarter’s GPA
so students will get a chance to start fresh with each new quarter.
All students are eligible and could be honored with an award of their own at the
end of each quarter if they keep their grades up.

Ronda Colleen (williams) Ramsey
1956–2012
Ronda Colleen (Williams) Ramsey
was born Oct. 26, 1956, to Matthew and
Connie Williams in Toledo, Ore.
Ronda has three children, Todd,
Sondra and Jesse, and a step-daughter,
Julia. She is survived by all of her children
and 13 grandkids.
Siletz became her home in 1990. She
was employed by the Siletz Tribe for at
least 15 years. Ronda worked hard all
her life supporting her family. She was
a member of the Confederated Tribes of
Siletz Indians.
Ronda enjoyed family gatherings,
beading, pow-wows, the casino and most
importantly, her grandkids, nieces and
nephews. She loved being the center of
attention and loved telling scary stories.
Ronda received her GED and took
online courses for her job. She loved being
at the casino and became an elite member.
She enjoyed attending the games of
her grandkids, nieces and nephews. Fam-
ily was the most important to her. She not
only worked hard for kids, but she also
gave anyone a home who needed it. She
was a genuinely caring, loving person
who showed unconditional love.
Ronda is survived by her mother,
Connie Williams; sisters, Roxanne Elkins,
Wendy Wawrak and Robina Williams;
her children, Todd, Sondra, Jesse and
Suzanne DePoe, daughter of William
DePoe Jr. and Frances Troia, refereed the
1B girls state championship game on March
2 at Spokane Arena in Spokane, Wash.
The game featured Colton vs. Sun-
nyside Christian and Colton won its fifth
consecutive championship by a score of
55-40.
This was DePoe’s seventh state tour-
nament and her sixth championship game.
“It was awesome having my daughter,
Dawn DePoe-Ike, and her family present
and my granddaughter, Madelyn, yell-
ing ‘That’s my grandma,’” said DePoe.
“Still running good and looking forward
to officially being a Tribal Elder in June.

Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund Tribal
Member Advisory Board Member Recruitment
The Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund (STCCF) Board is currently
accepting applications from Tribal members for a three-year appointment beginning
July 2013 through June 2016. Applications must be received by May 30, 2013.
The STCCF Advisory Board is composed of seven unpaid members, including
a Siletz Tribal Council representative; three Siletz Tribal members; two non-Tribal
members agreed upon by the governor and Tribal chairman and approved by the
Tribal Council; and one non-Tribal member selected by the Tribal chairman and
approved by the Tribal Council, from a list submitted by the governor. The board
receives travel reimbursement only for attendance at meetings, distributions and
other approved public relations events.
The advisory board meets quarterly (January, April, July and October) to
review approximately 100 applications received from charitable organizations
or local governments.
