Chairman’s Report Governor’s Tourism Conference Board members had many questions and comments regarding the status of Chinook Winds Casino Resort was a sponsor of the Governor’s Tourism Conference at Jantzen Beach in Portland, Ore., in March. Chemawa Station The Siletz Tribe continues to work on the development of the Chemawa Chemawa Indian School Station property in Keizer, Ore. At our last board meeting, however, some progress was The Tribe has been invited once again to participate in a National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) activity on July 20- 22 in Washington, D.C. The Cultural Department is making arrangements for the event. In April, the Tribe will host a fund raiser for Congressman Schrader at Chi nook Winds. He has proven to be a great supporter of Tribes as well as Oregonians. The Tribe fully supports his successful return to Congress. On a recent trip to Warm Springs, Ore., I visited the Warm Springs Tribe’s new casino on Highway 26 just across from the museum. It’s a beautiful and fun facility.
