Lori Johnson Memorial Learning Garden completed at Portland office
The long-planned “Planting Day
and Potluck’’ finally arrived on June 2. It
seems like only yesterday, Lori Johnson
stood and gazed out at the courtyard gar
den and said, “Wouldn’t it be nice if we
could replant it with all Native Oregon
plants that were used by our ancestors?”
Since that day, many people have
come together to see Johnson’s vision
Hilfilled and the Portland Area Office
would like to thank them:

In addition, a special thanks to our
community partners:

East Multnomah Soil & Water Con
servation District, which awarded us
a SPACE grant to fund this project
Judy Bluehorse-Skelton and Portland
State University Capstone students
for months of collaboration, planning,
donating plants and planting the garden
We allowed the garden time to recover
from transplanting and officially will open
it to visitors on July 6 in conjunction with
our Health Fair.
We invite all who can attend this event
to learn about the plants in the garden
and how they were used for food and
medicine, to remember Lori Johnson and
to remember the fact that if we vision it,
together we can make it come true.
