Save $, Conserve Energy with STEP STEP is the Siletz Tribal Energy Program. Look for our booth at Culture Camp on July 13-15. Our goal is to empower Tribal mem bers with the ability to maintain healthier, more livable homes, control their utility costs and conserve natural resources. We plan to reach these goals by providing education and assistance for Tribal members about energy conserva tion, home weatherization and reducing the waste we generate. We also will explore renewable energy options for Tribal administration buildings, homes and businesses. Over the next two years, we will work to develop green building codes for the Tribe, requirements for energy-efficient appliances and equipment. We also will develop a five-year strategic plan that will include a plan to sustain the program after the current grant money is spent. The Siletz Tribal Energy Program (STEP) is funded by grant money from the Administration for Native American*, Re covery Act money from the Department of Energy and money from the Bonneville Power Administration. Who Can Take Advantage of STEP? If you are an enrolled Siletz Tribal member or have one living in your house hold, we can assist you. It does not matter what your income level is, although we can provide more services to those with lower incomes. Do you need an energy audit on your home? Does your home need to be weath erized? We can assist with that. If you are over-income, we may be able to provide you with a free energy audit and suggestions on things you can to do improve your home yourself. If you are under-income, we may provide you with a free energy audit and some free weatherization work on your home.
