New Youth Elk Hunt Added for Youngsters to Hunt this Summer, Fall April 30 was Teacher Jeanna's last day at Tenas Illahee Childcare Center. She has worked at the child care center for five years and had to resign her position because of her family's move to Lincoln City. We will miss our Teacher Jeanna and wish her the very best in her new home. New Youth Elk Hunt: We are offering a new hunting opportunity for Tribal mem ber youth age 12-17 who have successfully completed their Hunter Safety Course. A new youth antlerless elk hunt in Western Oregon runs from Aug. 1 through Dec. 31. Two tags will be available for Tribal youth to apply for - one each for the Stott Mountain and Alsea hunt areas. To enter the drawing, youth should fill out the drawing form (available June 1) on the Tribe s website or in the Natural Resources Department office and return it to the Natural Resources Department by July 2. The drawing will be held at the Natural Resources Committee meeting on July 12 at 5 p.m. in the Natural Resources Department Map Room. Youth must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older when hunting using this tag. Youth Deer Hunt: We will once again offer the youth antlerless or spike deer hunt for Tribal member youth age 12-17 who have successfully completed their Hunter Safety Course. Six tags will be available by drawing for the Oct. 2 to Nov. 7 antlerless or spike deer hunt in the Stott Mountain and Alsea units (three tags each unit). To enter the drawing, youth should fill out the drawing form (available July 6) on the Tribe’s website or in the Natural Resources Department office and return it to the Natural Resources Department by Aug. 2. The drawing will be held at the Natural Resources Committee meeting on Aug. 9 at 5 p.m. in the Natural Resources Department Map Room. June USDA Distribution Dates Tribal Scholarships are Available Three scholarships are available through the Siletz Tribal Education Committee: Arthur Bensell Scholarship - $1,000 Siletz Scholarship — $500, up to three awards Pepsi-Craig Whitehead Scholarship - $1,000 Applications are due June 18,2010. All current higher education, adult vocational training students and high school seniors will receive applications from their education specialists. Vendor and Parade Applications Apply Now for Over-Income Grant Program for Home Renovations The Over-Income Rehabilitation Construction program funds over-income families with a $5,000 grant for construction rehabilitation on the primary residence they own or families who have possessor rights to their home. Rehabilitation refers to repairs or renovations to the home, but does not include appliances, saunas, hot tubs, swimming pools, etc. Over-income refers to Tribal members whose income exceeds the income limits set by the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAH ASDA). Applications, including proof of income, enrollment and proof of homeownership must be submitted to the Housing office by July 30, 2010, at 4:30 p.m. Applications received after that date and time will not be accepted by the Siletz Tribal Housing Department. Qualified applicants will be placed in the lottery drawing, which will be held in August on a date approved by the Tribal Council.
