Regalado in Remission, Now a High School Senior
Ashley Regalado, 17, was born in
Pendleton, Ore., and moved to Dallas, Ore.,
at age 13. When she was 15 and a freshman
at Dallas High School, she was diagnosed
with osteosarcoma (bone cancer).
She was treated at Doernbecher
Children’s Hospital for more than a year
while undergoing chemotherapy. She
then had a total knee replacement, blood
transfusions, infection, surgeries and
other intense treatment.
Ashley was a very outgoing young
lady. She had worked in the summer
through the Siletz Tribe s youth program
and was very athletic. She loved being a
wrestler and riding her horse.
Since her treatment and knee replace
ment, Ashley has not been able to be in
any sports. She lost a year of school while
she was in the hospital.
1 am thrilled to say Ashley is 1 */2 years
in remission! She is now a senior at Dal
las High School. She goes full time and

New Baby!
Sierra Hill attended her first pow
wow Sept. 26 at Chemawa Indian School.
It was a fitting place since her family has
many ties to Chemawa. Grama Cindy and
great-grama Donna were able to dance
with her. And by her reaction to the drum,
she seems to have the dance in her blood.
We love you, Sierra!
