Walls Take Shape at New Clinic, Following Construction of Towers for Stairs, Elevator The walls of the new Siletz Community Health Clinic are clearly defining the footprint of this building nearly two months after construc tion began. Tribal officials, including General Manager Brenda Bremner, Health Director Judy Muschamp and Tribal Planner Pamela Lind, toured the facility Sept. 25 and received an update on constrution progress. The walls that form the 15,000-square-foot basement are shown in the photo at left. When the building is completed, all Tribal Health Department programs will be housed in one location, including the medi cal, dental and optometry clinics, expanded pharmacy area, counseling rooms, specialty clinic areas, Contract Health Services and the Tribal Alcohol and Drug Program. The new building will enable an upgrade of the clinic’s computer systems to accommodate wireless electronic health records, digital ra diography in the Dental suites and improved emergency patient loading and unloading. October Notes from Healthy Family Healthy Child Project This summer, especially the months of July and August, has been a very busy one for the project and as a result, time has passed so very quickly. The primary focus of Healthy Family Healthy Child Project over the past 10 months, as many of you know, has been bringing Don Coyhis and the White Bison movement to the Tribe. First, White Bison presented its “7 Trainings” during three days in December 2008. Then Coyhis came to Siletz twice in July, assisted by Marlin Farley, to work with the community coali tion, CEDARR. Coyhis then returned to our com munity during the middle of August for Community Visioning Day. Add to this a week-long trip to Washington, D.C., to attend the annual grantee's meeting, sum mer all-staff meeting, the pow-wow and here we are in September writing the article for the October issue of Siletz News. Coyhis was in Siletz on Aug. 19 to assist those interested Tribal members in the formulation of the Siletz Tribal Vision Book. On Aug. 18, Coyhis received a block of time to talk to the Tribal Council. This conversation resulted in several council members participating the next day in the preparation of the Tribal Vision Book. White Bison will return the com pleted Siletz Tribal Vision Book to our community before this article is read. RV Park Manager/Management Team Needed FEATURING ■’ w r ' wi Native American ' Artists and Performances ■ The morning of Aug. 19 was a beautiful and powerful summer one. With wonderful ceremony, the White Bison staff and the sacred hoop were carried into the Tribal com munity center, accompanied by the drum ming and singing of Fish Martinez, Darin Rilatos, Chántele Rilatos and Tyee Rilatos. The White Bison sacred hoop is made up of 100 eagle feathers. Each feather represents a Native community in wellbriety. As each community earns its feather, it also will be given a ceremonial drum. The Siletz drum is in the process of being made. It is Coyhis’ vision to call for all 100 drums to come together on the banks of the headwaters of the Mississippi River in September 2010 to drum and sing together. His vision of this ceremony is for the first drum given to begin the ceremony by drumming and singing. At the completion of the song, the first drum will be joined by the second drum and then by the third drum until all 100 community drums are playing and hundreds of voices are singing. This will be a very powerful moment. The Siletz Tribal Council has agreed it’s important for our drum to participate in this ceremony. This 5-year-old, 51-site ocean-view park is located on the west side of Highway 101 and is walking distance to the beach and Oregon’s only oceanfront casino golf resort. The manager will be responsible for all aspects of the operation, in cluding without limitation cash handling, customer service, reservations, maintenance, landscaping, accounting, human resources, security and retail merchandising. Prefer two to five years of hotel, campground or RV park management experience involving the responsibilities listed above. Manager(s) must live on site. Compensation includes a base amount based on experience, plus a per formance-based bonus program. Two RV spaces are provided at no cost.
