Every year, across the globe, millions of pairs of athletic shoes end up in
landfills or are disposed of in some other way. I hat s a lot of shoes going to
waste that contain valuable materials that could be re-used if a degree of imagi­
nation, some ingenious engineering and a persistent pursuit of the principles of
sustainability were to be applied.
Nike and its partners provide you with several options to turn in your old Nikes
— or any other brand of athletic shoes — to be recycled. The best option lor you
depends on where you live and how many old shoes you d like to donate.
Nike Stores as well as participating partner retail stores, athletic clubs, schools
and colleges are all locations where shoes can be collected. In the United States,
we also partner with members of the National Recycling C oalition to increase
recycling efforts in communities across the country. We provide communica­
tions materials for collection partners to spread the word.
