CHINOOK WINDS CASINO RESORT Tickle Your Funny Bone Paul Anka to Perform Famous Hits, New Music Paul Anka is bringing his long-time hits like Diana and She’s a Lady to Chinook Winds on June 8-9. He has a timeless charm that wows every crowd. Not only will he sing the songs that made him famous, he’ll also sing some surprising remakes from his current hit CD. Rock Swings. In a more conventional mode are such choices as It’s My Life (Bon Jovi), Hello (Lionel Richie). The Way You Make Me Feel (Michael Jackson), Eye of the Tiger, and a moving rendition of Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven. Anka has recorded 125 albums to date, including more than 10 albums in Japanese, German, Spanish, French, and Italian, composing songs culturally tailored to each country. He has sold nearly 15 million albums worldwide. Among his Billboard chart stats in the United States are three No. 1 songs - Diana, Lonely Boy, and You re Having Mv Baby - as well as 22 Top 20 hits. Anka also has a staggering 9(X) songs to his credit, with 130 recorded by other artists, including Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand, Linda Ronstadt, and Robbie Williams. He is particularly well-known for penning signature songs for others, notably It Doesn 't Matter Anymore (Buddy Holly), She's a Lady (Tom Jones), Puppy Love (Donny Osmond), and of course, My Way (Frank Sinatra). Honoring the Spirit of Tradition Old and New Age On June 9, for one day only, the artisans of Native Creations in Newport, Ore., will present the best of their work for show and sale. Lisa Brown, Siletz Tribal member and owner of Native Creations, invites you to take part in the celebration of cultural traditions. This show will repre sent “All of Our Relatives,” so patrons will find themselves or their ancestors represented in the work of the artisans. Look for American Indian silver and gold jewelry, beaded jewelry, other beaded objects, natural regalia, wood carvings, leatherwork, drums and tools, paintings, and photography. Lamp work beads and other beading supplies also will be available for purchase. All fine art and craft is handmade in the traditional ways of the elders. Both new age and ancients come together for this spectacular show of fine art and craft. Artists will be available to answer questions from the public. Tribes that will be represented at the show include „Chickasaw. Chippewa, Grand Ronde, Jamestown S’KIallam, and Siletz. Other artists with tribal heritage or other ethnic background include Danise Barker, Deb Cardy, Shannon Garza, Keith Jackson, Ray Ludwig, Dale and Elouise Middleton. Bud Miller, Marie Norris, and Harold Williams. The Native Art Show and Sale will take place in the convention center (Shasta Room) of Chinook Winds from noon to 10 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to come and enjoy the artists’ creations and others who will share about stories, drumming, and singing for spiritual uplift. Jimmy Pardo has spent years de livering his cutting-edge comedy, earn ing him the respect of his peers and along with it, the moniker “comic’s comic.” He's received invitations to the famed Just for Laughs Festival in Mon treal, the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, and the Chicago Comedy Festival. Pardo also has found a comfortable home on television as the host of National Lampoon s Funny Money on the Game Show Network and as co-host of AMC's Movies at our House. He also has hosted episodes of VHI s The Surreal Life, NBC’s Late Friday, and VH 1 ’s Love Lounge. Sitcom appearances include guest spots on That '70s Show and Becker. Andres Fernandez, a native New Yorker, says his comedy routines mainly draw on experiences in his own family, cultural differences, and con flicts between genders and generations. Fernandez further illustrates this fact by saying, “My mom is Dominican born and raised in New York. But my dad is really the ‘ethnic’ one.
