TRIBAL MEMBER NEWS Graduates! Isaac Butler, Bobby Butler, Logan Butler, and Ron Butler Jr. Doug Stinson Pioneer Pacific College Here is a big shout out and a con gratulatory slap on the back for a job well done to Doug Stinson. Doug, who was enrolled in the Adult Vocational Training Program at the Eugene Area Office, graduated with honors from Pioneer Pacific College. He received an associate of applied science degree and graduated with a GPA of 3.95 in computer and network ing technology. When asked what his goals are now that he has graduated, he stated with enthusiasm, “I would like to work for the Siletz Tribe someday.” Until then, ** he hopes to find a good job within his scope of studies. Doug also is a veteran of the U.S. Army and Desert Storm. Congratulations, Doug - we are very proud of you. Here's wishing you a bright future and good fortune in all Butler Boys Win Wrestling Awards Robert Pronovost Stanford University from Mom and Dave, Matt and Nick, Aunt Karen and Uncle Gregg, Casey and Jake, Uncle Mike and A unt Barbara, Kristina and Wesley, Uncle Danny and Aunt Becca. Kaitlyn and Zach, and Grandma and Grandpa Blair Congratulations to Robert Pronovost, grandson of tribal elder Kenneth Blair. Ten years ago, Robert started dream ing of attending Stanford University. He worked hard, earned good grades, and applied to Stanford to fulfill his dreams. After being accepted and with financial assistance from the Siletz Tribe, he graduated in June 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He applied to and was accepted into an accelerated master’s program. This month (June 2007) at age 23, Robert will graduate with a master's degree in education. He hopes to teach fifth grade and help other students achieve their dreams. Robert has worked very hard to get to this point in his life. He is a wonder ful young man of which the Siletz Tribe can be very proud. The Blair Family is very proud of you. Robert, and we all love you very much. Four members of the Siletz Warriors Mat Club participated in the Oregon State Freestyle and Greco Wrestling Champion ships held in Hermiston on April 21-22. Issac Butler, 6 years old and a 70- pound Bantam, finished his season as the Freestyle state champion. He also took third in Collegiate State and wrestled in the Oregon Classic in Redmond. Bobby Butler, 8 years old and a 60- pound Midget, took second in Freestyle and fifth in Greco. He had 38 wins this season, wrestled in the Oregon Classic, and will compete at the Western Regional Tournament this June in Klamath Falls. Logan Butler, 10 years old and an 80- pound Novice, placed fifth in Freestyle and third in Greco. Logan will compete in the Western Regional Tournament. Ron Butler Jr., a 185-pound Schoolboy, is the Collegiate state cham pion. He placed second in Freestyle and third in Greco. He also will compete at the Western Regional Tournament. Way to go, Butler boys! We are proud of your hard work and dedication. Rhoan Places Second in Kah- Nee-Ta Marathon A miai Rhoan by Arlissa Rhoan Congratulations to Amial Rhoan for his time of 10 minutes, 32 seconds in the 1-mile race, placing second in the 6- to 13-year-old age division on April 29 at Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Resort and Casino. This isn’t Amial’s first run. but it is his first win! I am so proud of him! The next run on his list will be the Pi-Ume-Sha Run in June. (If there are friends or family who would like to write to Amial or me, please contact Bonnie at Housing. Amial really, really misses his other side of the family so if you can send him pictures, that would be great!)
