For those who do not know me, or about me, I am married with three chil dren ages 8-18; my grandfather is tribal elder Edward G. Collins, known to most as Eddie; I am a graduate of Or egon State University with a bachelor's degree in business; and I served in the Army from 1986 to 1991 with an hon orable discharge. I have worked for the tribe for nine years, the first three as a gaming com missioner and now as the director of Casino Operations at Chinook Winds Casino Resort. I have worked for and with the Tribal Council and three different chair men over the past nine years and have a great deal of respect for all of them. My goal in running is to provide a different voice through which more tribal members can be heard. I feel very strongly about a number of issues. One that I will share here is about elders with the greatest need for care. First off, I feel the current staff charged with caring for our elders is doing a very good job. However, as a tribe we can do more. With the growing number of baby boomers reaching retirement age and beyond, there is a real need for elder care facilities. By operating an elder facility, we can better care for our own elders and by opening it up to non tribal retirees, we can gain a long-term revenue source.
