    LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
To the editor:
First of all, I would like to say how
proud I am of these two young women,
Darian Dorman, Jr. Miss Siletz, and
Clarinda Black, Little Miss Siletz. You
two are doing a terrific job on holding
your title.
Together we have accomplished
seven events. I look forward to the up
coming events and ongoing year with you
girls. Keep up the good work!
I would also like to thank Delina
John, Felicia Carmona, and Auntie Selene
Rilatos for supporting and guiding us at
these events.
Respectfully,
Tasha Rilatos
Miss Siletz 2005-2006
To the editor:
Dear tribal members,
1 would like to announce my candi
dacy for the upcoming 2006 tribal elec
tion. My name is Shannon Case.
I'm the daughter of Clifford Case Sr.
and Elouise Butler Case. My maternal
grandparents are Alton I. Butler and Ella
Brown Butler-Simmons and paternal
grandparents are Clifford Case and Flo
rence Underwood from the Yakima Tribe.
I feel I have knowledge to offer as a
Tribal Council member. In my employ
ment and service work with the tribe, I’ve
learned a lot, most of all my empathy for
our people’s needs are very important and
warranted. I would like a chance to help
make a difference.
As an employee for 16 years, I
worked in the Contract Health Depart
ment in Siletz. Before that, I worked for
the Grand Ronde Tribal Health Clinic
and the Chemawa Indian Health Clinic
in Salem.
I served as a Siletz Indian Housing
Commissioner for seven years, 1992-
1999; two years I served as chairman,
from 1997-1999; and served as the Resi
dent Organization chairman from 1999-
To the editor:
I would like to thank the people for
their prayers. Without your prayers, I
would not be here.
I had myocardial infarction, conges
tive heart failure, renal dysfunction, and
respiratory failure.
I do believe in the power of prayer,
with my mom, Elouise, and Aunt Joan and
Sylvia stopping in Corvallis to pray for
me, people at churches, at home and na
tive way. I appreciate your prayers.
I had polio; a virus the doctor couldn’t
identify, all he did was shake my mom’s
hand and say “Good luck,” and we went
home; pneumonias at a young age; a frac
tured foot, ankle, collarbone when thrown
out the back window in a rollover; diabe
tes; years of feet ulcers and infections;
bone infection; amputation; shingles;
coronary artery disease; postoperative
methicillin-resistant staphylococcus
To the editor:
Thank you to everyone concerned for
bringing us wood from the elders wood
cut and for stacking it so carefully - Natu
ral Resources Department, Angela
Ramirez, whoever cut it, and whoever
brought it to our house. It will make for a
wonderful Christmas!

aureus infection of the sternum; pneumo
nia; fractured arm; tom rotator cuff; early
stage of kidney disease; dialysis; myocar
dial infarction; congestive heart failure;
renal dysfunction; and respiratory failure.
Doctors thought I wouldn’t walk, sent
me home from the hospital with pneumo
nia because there wasn’t anything else
they could do. Said that I shouldn’t have
survived the heart and sternum surgeries
and might not make it this time.
When doctors gave up, my parents
didn’t. I will always believe in prayer. I
am very thankful I have Christian parents.
Again, I thank you for your prayers,
those who visited me in Corvallis, and
those who sent me postcards, especially
from the elders.
I am thankful and will always appre
ciate a prayer.
With respect,
William Stanley Strong
2002. I also served on the Budget Com
mittee for one year.
In my service work with the Housing
Department, I wanted to be involved in
my community and help with the hous
ing needs of our people. I was very dedi
cated and worked well with other people.
1 am asking for your support in the
upcoming 2006 election. Thank you for
your time, don’t forget to vote in February.
Thank you,
Shannon Case

Our families, the Bennetts, and
Froggie’s brother and sisters would like
to thank all of those who helped prepare
and serve food at our sister’s, wife’s,
mom’s memorial dinner when she passed.
The praises for people who reached
out and helped at a time of a family’s loss
are beyond words for thankfulness. It
meant a lot to our family. Thank you so
much for each and every one of you.
And a very special thanks also to the
