CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS Siletz Charitable Fund Again Helps Community The Siletz Tribal Charitable Con tribution Fund made another round of distributions Aug. 6 and the seven member advisory board has distributed more than $1.1 million since its inception in 2001. Seventeen organizations shared $66,000 in contributions when checks were presented at Chinook Winds Casino Resort in Lincoln City, Ore. This included $25,142 for operational costs, maintenance, and repairs for Siletz Valley School; $5,090 to help with indigent care, assistance for single parents, and in-home health care provided by the Yachats Community Health Clinic; and $5,000 to install a 12-foot by 12-foot walk-in freezer in the warehouse of the CARE Regional Food Bank in Tillamook, Ore. The Siletz Tribe is proud of its contributions through employment, monetary donations, and cooperative measures to the Siletz community and Lincoln County as a whole. The tribe has honored its tradition of sharing within the community by distributing more than $3.15 million through the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund and other tribal resources. Chinook Winds has donated more than $450,000 in cash and fund-raising items since it opened in 1995. The casino also provides in-kind donations of con vention space for various fund-raisers as well as technical support, advertising, and manpower for many events. Eligibility for money from the Charitable Contribution Fund is limited to two categories: ♦ ♦ Aug. 6, 2004 - Distribution of $66,000 Cultural Activities - $2,700 Siletz Elders Council - registration for National Indian Council on Aging conference Crossroads-LCCNP - laptop or desktop computer Lincoln Co. Health & Human Services - medical supplies and lab tests Nestucca HS - shoulder pads and mouth pieces for football club Siletz Valley Partnership - instructor costs for Positive Parenting program Siletz Valley School - operational costs, repairs, and maintenance Toledo HS - five new Pentium 4 computers for library and computer lab Waldport Elem.
