March 2004 -, by Teresa Simmons Comedy on the Coast Brings in Big League Comics Monthly installments of Comedy on the Coast at Chinook Winds Casino & Convention Center give stand-up comedy fans the opportunity to laugh themselves silly with comedians who consistently play Las Vegas, Tahoe, and Atlantic City. Bob Golub will headline shows on March 19-20, with Benny Ricardo as the featured comedian and David Gee as host. Bud Friedman, founder of The Improv, called Bob Golub one of the most unique comics working today. His appearances on Comedy Central’s Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn demonstrate his quick and hard-hitting genre of comedy. Later this year, Dodo, Golub’s one- man show about growing up in a functioning dysfunctional family of 10 in Western Pennsylvania, will go to Broadway. This rough and tough childhood may explain how he got a small role in Goodfellas. When Benny Ricardo takes the stage, members of the audience may recognize his voice in between their shouts of laughter. After covering sports on San Diego radio for some time, He now announces all Monday Night Foot ball games in Spanish for Westwood One Radio. He also can be heard calling NFL playoff games and the Super Bowl for Westwood One. He must have been one very funny place kicker during his 11 years in the NFL. Ricardo has played comedy clubs across the country for decades, including the Playboy Club, and has opened for Judy Tenuta and other well- known comedians. Bob Golub David Gee has made folks laugh before Bonnie Raitt, The Beach Boys, and Ray Charles concerts. He’s knocked them dead at some of the most famous comedy clubs around, including The Improv, The Friar’s Club, and The Ice House. Gee has performed at Las Vegas hotels, including Caesar’s Palace and The Mirage, and was voted “Best Comedian in a Production Show” in Las Vegas for four years in a row. Add to this his appearance at comedy events with Sid Caesar, Ray Romano, and Bob Hope and it’s easy to see why Gee has kept ‘em in stitches everywhere he goes.
