It’s Happening at Chinook Winds in June... by remu simmon» Chinook Winds Supports Children’s Advocacy Center In recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention month, Chinook Winds Casino has made a cash donation of $500 to the Lincoln County Children’s Advocacy Center. On April 29, Chinook Winds General Manager Jim Kikumoto presented a check for $500 to Dan Glode, board chairman of the Lincoln County Children’s Advocacy Center, and Patty Goins, assistant to the Prevention coordinator. “The casino is proud to be affiliated with such a worthwhile cause,” he said. Chinook Winds Casino and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians of Oregon give approximately $350,000 to who’ve been exposed to some form of abuse. The center, which was built in 1997, provides a safe and non-threatening environment for child abuse victims to meet with coun selors, doctors, or law enforcement officers. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is affiliated with the Children’s Advocacy Center. Approx-imately 200 volunteers work in these two programs annually. Holiday Weekend Brings Comedy on the Coast Comedy on the Coast is set for July 4-6, with a trio of comedians in a 90-minute show. Four shows are set for this three-day weekend, featuring three comedians in return performances at Chinook Winds. Dave Anderson is the headliner, with Art Krug as the featured act, and Mike “Wally” Walter as host. Anderson has appeared on television in Star Search, An Evening at the Improv, Showtime, Fox’s Comedy Express, and VHl’s Stand-up Spotlight. From 1996 to 1998, he hosted Cool Stuff from the Cosmos on the Sci-Fi channel. Portlanders remember him most from his days on KOIN-TV’s Around Town and as co-host of the Dave & Dwight Show on KXL radio. He currendy is a contributing writer for the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and co-host of the Mark & Dave Show on KEX radio in Portland. A Portland native, Krug has the calm demeanor of the guy next door. But when he takes the stage, this gives way to a boiling comic spirit and a uniquely creative mind that have made him one of the “funniest ever to come out of the Northwest” (Entertainment Scene). His TV credits include Showtime’s Comedy Club, PM Magazine, AM Northwest, Two at Four, CBS News at Noon, and Funny Business, plus numetous commercials. Krug has traveled across the U.S. and Canada for 19 years, performing at The Improv, Comedy Underground, Yuk Yuks, Punchlines, The Last Laugh, Comedy Cellar, and The Riviera in Las Vegas. Walter has appeared on Showtime, MTV, and America's Funniest People. He was a two-time finalist in the prestigious Seattle Comedy Compe-tition and has been nominated for an American Comedy Award for “Nightclub Comic of the Year.” He’s become a favorite of Chinook Winds’ audiences.
