It’s Happening at Chinook Winds in January... by Teresa simmons The Coasters and The Drifters in Concert Two for the price of one will be offered at Chinook Winds on January 17-19 with The Coasters and The Drifters in concert. These legendary groups with hits reaching back to the 1950s have toured around the world and back again. Whether it’s the romantic ballads of The Drifters or the songs that made us chuckle by The Coasters, their music brings fond memories to the minds of generations of Americans. Young America found humor in rock ‘n roll with The Coasters, beginning with their first big hit in 1956. Down In Mexico propelled The Coasters to fame, followed by Poison Ivy, Charlie Brown, Yakety Yak, and Love Potion #9. The Drifters have had their share of gold records, including There Goes My Baby, This Magic Moment, Save The Last Dance For Me, and Up On The Roof. They have long been known not only for their heart-tugging tunes, but for their marvelous choreography. These groups were pioneers of the Motown sound. This collaboration of talent is to be savored as these groups perform music full of memories to fill your heart full of soul.
