TRIBAL MEMBER NEWS Daniel Rilatos -1944-2002 Williams, Goodell Engaged The children of Christine J. Williams and Chad E. Goodell of Siletz, Ore., are happy to announce the engagement of their parents. The bride-to-be is Chad E. Goodell and Christine J. Williams employed with the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. Her fiance is a commercial fisherman with Icelander Fish Company in Washington state and Wild Fin Fish Company of Newport, Ore. The couple and their children - Ryan, Chazlynne, Keionni, and Shaunde’ - are planning a spring 2003 wedding in Siletz. Parents Welcome Cintati by Daddy and Mommy We’re pleased to announce the birth of our daughter, Cintah Lynne Butler, bom Oct. 21, 2002. She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 20° inches long. Proud parents are Rusty Butler and Tanya Cadena. Grandparents are Leroy Daniel Rilatos, 58, of Siletz, Ore., died Nov. 3, 2002, in Newport, Ore. He was bom May 23, 1944, in Salem, Ore., to Mary Marzan, and was adopted by his grandparents, Pearl and Tuton Rilatos. He was a 1962 grad uate of the former Siletz High School. He was em ployed by the city of Newport as a utility worker for several Daniel Rilatos at the 2000 Nesika lllahee Pow-Wow Parade years, then was employed with the Confederated Tribes Sr. of Waldport, Ore., Benny Marzan of Siletz Indians as a maintenance and Jerry Marzan, both of Siletz, supervisor from September 1983 Johnny Marzan of Fresno, Calif., and Kelly Marzan of Orange Grove, Calif.; through April 2002. He married Linda Attridge on a sister, Lisa Williamson of Sacramento, June 16, 1983, in Siletz. He was the Calif.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his current mayor of the city of Siletz. He was a member of Toledo Elks Lodge adopted parents, Tuton and Pearl Rilatos, and his birth mother, Mary No. 1664. Survivors include his wife, Linda Marzan; and five brothers, Robbie Rilatos; five daughters, Teala Rilatos, Marzan, Manuel Rilatos, David Rilatos, Rhonda Attridge, and Laura Duarte, all Robert Rilatos Sr., and Edward Rilatos. A memorial service was held on of Siletz, Shelly Brunette of Logsden, Ore., and Tonya Attridge of Libby, Nov. 8 at the Siletz Tribal Community Mont.; a son, Alan Hunter of Long Center. Interment was at Paul Beach, Calif.; five brothers, Phil Rilatos Washington Cemetery in Siletz. Cook of Creswell, Ore., and Sal and Christy Cadena of San Diego, Calif. Great- grandparents are Paul and Lucy Cook of Creswell, Bruce Butler Jr. and Martha Case Moody of Siletz, Ore., Maria DeLaCruz of San Diego, and Alfred Jr. and Clarice Lane of San Diego. We love you, Cintah. Roth Passes Quartermaster Exam from Aunt Joyce and Uncle Kurk, Aunt Judy and Uncle Woody, Gramma Dee, Uncle Jerry and Aunt Brenda Congratulations to Nolan J. Roth, son of Craig and Juanita Roth of Oroville, Wash., for passing the quartermaster exam in the U.S. Navy. Nolan was one of just three who passed the test. Forty-eight people on his base took the exam. In the entire U.S. Navy, fewer than 100 people passed the test. Nolan has been in the service for two years and is based in San Diego. He is the grandson of Deanna Downey and the great-grandson of the late Mae Downey. We’re all very proud. Keep up the good work, Nolan! December 2002 □ Siletz News □ 9
