TRIBAL MEMBER NEWS Tribal Youth Graduate from College, High School The Portland area is very proud to announce our 2002 Siletz Tribal college graduates. For the last four years, these young people have been resolutely working to complete their college education and earn their respective degrees. We honor each one of you for your accomplishments and for fulfilling your educational goals. Congratulations to the following: Amanda Hamilton has earned a bachelor of science degree in molecular and cellular biology at Pacific University. Her future plans include moving to Washington, D.C., where she has been accepted into the physician’s assistant master’s program at George Washington University. Amanda advises young people to explore what you want and says, “There are more options than you realize.” Welo Watson will graduate on June 16 from Portland State University with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. After graduation, Welo would like to obtain a position with the state of Oregon. Brent Walker Welo Watson Andrea Wynn also will graduate from PSU with a bachelor of science degree in business administration, with a concentration in human resource management. Her future plans include moving to sunny Florida to pursue a career in business. Andrea advises incoming students to take time to talk to your advisors to evaluate your credits and your degree requirements. McClintock Graduates from High School Ryan McClintock will graduate from Oregon City High School on June 9, 2O()2, at the Earle A. Chiles Center at the University of Portland. His proud family is having a graduation party at his home on June 15. Ryan will travel to Spain as a Rotary exchange student after graduation this summer. East Portland Rotary is sponsoring Ryan on this exchange. Ryan plans to attend Clackamas Community College in the fall and major in computer science. Congratulations, Ryan! 12 □ Siletz News □ June 2002 Ryan McClintock Brent Walker graduated from Lewis & Clark College on May 12 with a bachelor of science degree in business and economics. He will pursue his career in business, which he has prepared for during these last four years. Congratulations also to Shannon Larsen, a Siletz Tribal youth who will graduate from Heritage High School in Vancouver, Wash., on June 12. Although young, Shannon took the plunge and traveled to Bern, Switzerland, where she attended her junior year of high school in a special exchange program. She plans to attend Clark Community College this fall to complete her associate’s degree and then eventually travel back to Europe and live. We wish you all peace and happiness in your future.
