Harrington Hl, executive member of Lakota Oyate Ki The Lakota Oyate Ki executive body and general membership cordially invite you and any accompanying family members or friends to our Annual Inside Mini Pow-Wow. This unique celebration will be held on Nov. 21, 2001, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. We are allowed to invite a maximum of 60 guests from the community. OSP is one of the last institutions allowing these types of functions and a positive turnout is essential to keeping this annual celebration alive. If you plan to attend or would like more information, contact the OSP activities manager at 503-378-4207. General Information ♦ ♦ ♦ All guests must have picture ID. No denim pants, shirts, skirts, or material allowed. All guests will be processed through a very sensitive metal detector. ♦ ♦ ♦ No tank top or tube top-type shirts allowed. All shorts must come at least to within one inch above the knee. All children attending must have a parental consent form signed and returned. Specific Event Information Entry into the institution will begin at 6 p.m. Restrooms for guests are provided, as well as a private dressing area. Grand entry will begin upon arrival of our guests. Due to procedures to gain entry into OSP, all guests are encouraged to arrive early. Pastries, coffee, and juice will be served for this event. Giveaway and special presentation ceremony will be conducted. Nominations Open for Chemawa School Board Chemawa Indian School in Salem, Ore., an off-reservation boarding school (grades 9-12) operated by the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, currently is accepting nominations to appoint two new school board members from the states of Oregon and Washington. The Chemawa School Board consists of five members, one each from Idaho. Montana, Oregon, Washington, and one member at-large. Indian parents or legal guardians of students enrolled at Chemawa Indian School are encouraged to seek appointment to the school board. School board membership is not limited to Indian parents or legal guardians of Chemawa students. Any adult Indian interested in the future of Chemawa Indian School and dedicated to supporting the objectives of the board and the school is eligible to be a board member. Board members are appointed to three-year terms, starting on Sept. 1 and ending on Aug. 31, or at such later time as their successor shall be appointed. The Chemawa School Board, the Portland Area Education Programs administrator, and Chemawa School administration encourage all qualified Indian adults to submit their nominating petition and resume to the school supervisor.
