The Siletz Tribe recently established a seven-member advisory board to assist the tribe in allocating $349,000 in revenue from 1999 and 2000. The Siletz Charitable Contributions Advisory Board members include three Siletz tribal members, Cheryl Lane, Kurt Arden, and Virgil Brown; Rosemary Landis, Tribal Council member; Mike Holden, Lincoln City mayor; and Karen Gertulla, Lincoln County commissioner. Both Holden and Gertulla are Lincoln County residents. Tim Buckley of Salem, Ore., was nominated by Gov. John Kitzhaber. Board members are appointed to three-year terms. This Advisory Board held its first meeting on June 14 to adopt procedures and establish criteria for awarding funds. It will meet at least four times annually to review applications and recommend grant awards to the Siletz Tribal Council.
