Many people have suggested that we
honor one of the most loved and respected
elders in our tribal community.
Name: Maude Lane of Siletz, Ore.,
was born on June 1, 1901.
Tribal Band: Mother of many members
Family: Father - William Porter and
Musa Cubler
Siblings: 12 siblings
Children: Joseph Lane, William Lane,
Gladys Bolton, Alfred Lane Jr., Arthur Lane,
Donna Woods, Rose Bremner, and Delores
Pigsley, plus 32 grandchildren, and roughly
120 great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Interests/hobbies: The casino is
Maude’s biggest interest. Maude loves
crocheting.
Advice to younger generation: “Work
hard and keep your family together.”
I have had such a wonderful
experience becoming acquainted with our
tribal elders. I think everyone should know
a little something about each of them,
recognize them, and get to know them.
