It’s Happening at Chinook Winds ... by Teresa Muter Surf’s Up on Surf City Weekend Win a PT Cruiser “Woody” Head for the beach and Surf City 2000, Chinook Winds Casino’s second annual celebration on Sept. 23 and 24. Get set for tons of fun and prizes, terrific entertainment, and a chance to win a custom-made PT Cruiser “Woody” in a grand prize drawing! Listen to “oldies but goodies” music while looking over the classic cars and hot rods on display in front of the casino. Combine Len Barry, Brian Hyland, Billy J. Kramer, Dickey Lee, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Chris Montez Tommy Roe, and Mitch Ryder and stir gently. The result is the creation of the greatest combination of grassroots rock ‘n’ roll the world has ever seen. They’re called the Rock ‘n’ Roll Army and they’ll be performing in the entertainment theater at 8 p.m on Sept. 22 and 7 and 10 p.m. on Sept. 23. Ticket prices range from $25 to $35, depending on seat location. It’s time start gearing up for another “Surf City Weekend” on Sept. 23 and 24. This year, Chinook winds will give away a red PT Cruiser “Woody,” the first one in the U.S. This one-of-a-kind “Woody” was modified at the factory just for Chinook Winds. Names of finalists who will participate in the grand prize drawing will be drawn on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday’s drawings will be held at 8, 9, and 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday drawings begin at noon, then at 1,2,3,4, and 5 p.m. for a total of 15 finalists drawn over the three days. The grand prize drawing will take place on Sept. 24 at 5:30 p.m. when each of the finalists will try their key in the ignition. One will start this groovy PT Cruiser! The Chinook Winds “Woody” is now on display in the lobby. Stop by the Winner’s Circle for details. It’s all part of Surf City Weekend, a whirlwind of fun and prizes, including the grand prize drawing on Sept. 24 (see story at right). For Bingo lovers, Chinook Winds will have a “Free Bingo” session on Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. with payouts totaling $1,500. Fuzzy dice, Surf City t-shirts, and lots of other neafprizes will make Chinook Winds the place to be in September. “Be There or Be Square!” Rock ‘n’ Roll Army to Invade Chinook Winds The Rock ‘n’ Roll Army will perform at Chinook Winds Casino & Convention Center on Sept. 22 and 23. The “Army” includes Len Barry, Brian Hyland, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Billy J. Kramer, Dickey Lee, Chris Montez, Tommy Roe, and Mitch Ryder. A sampling of their hits includes Len Barry’s “The Bristol Stomp,” “1-2-3,” and “Hully Gully Baby”; Brian Hyland’s “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini,” “Sealed with a Kiss,” and “Gypsy Woman”; Gary Lewis and the Playboys’ “This Diamond Ring,” “Count Me In,” and “She’s Just My Style”; Billy J. Kramer’s “Do You Want to Know a Secret,” “Bad to Me,” and “I’ll Keep You Satisfied”; Dickey Lee’s “Patches,” “I Saw Linda Yesterday,” and “Dream Boy”; Chris Montez “Let’s Dance,” “The More I See You,” and “Call Me”; Tommy Roe’s “Dizzy,” “Sweet Pea,” and “Hooray For Hazel"; and, last but not least, Mitch Ryder’s “Jenny Take A Ride!” “Devil with the Blue Dress,” and “Good Golly Miss Molly.” Performances are at 8 p.m. on Sept. 22 and 7 and 10 p.m. on Sept. 23.
