“Cha-may weeya11 Siletz Community Health Medicine Talk Clinic Students Work at Clinic this Summer I worked as the Physical Therapy aide/ receptionist in the Siletz Clinic. I scheduled appointments, answered phones, prepared charts for appointments, and did laundry. I’ve also worked in the Medical Records Department, where I got to work with the medical providers. My favorite part was doing special projects in Medical Records, like helping purge inactive charts and working on RPMS (Resource and Patient Management System). I would be willing to do it again because it was a good learning experience for me. Jamie Mason Ninth Grade/Toledo High While working at the Siletz Clinic in Patient Accounts, I learned many things that I didn’t know before, like how to properly file, billing, sending and receiving the clinic’s mail, answering and transferring phone calls, and working on the RPMS system. I think working here has been a good experience. If I got the chance to, I would do it again next year. Apples Lane 10th Grade/Toledo High Since I came to the Siletz Clinic, I have helped a lot of people. I’ve filed papers, checked in RPMS if prior patients had paid their bills for Marlene. I inventoried many items that needed to be logged in the Excel database for Sunshine (my supervisor), tagged computers and filled out inventory forms needed for the clinic’s new computers for Paul, and I helped Charlie with yard work. I also took out hard drives and installed sound cards in computers for Paul, helped move computers from the clinic to the A&D TLC building, and helped him hook up some Tips for Lice Prevention 1. The key to prevention is averting a full lice outbreak. Check household members weekly. Make it a part of regular grooming habits. 2. Caution children against sharing coats, hats, combs, hair clips, headphones, and other personal items. 3. For a younger child, supply a personal blanket or mat for day care or school, or make sure they are cleaned between students. 4. Make sure your child uses his or her own sleeping bag on overnights. 5. Wash hair daily. This may dislodge or damage some lice, but mainly it provides a natural opportunity to check your Gyrrad Hibdon of the computers, too. But my favorite thing was installing, configuring, and, testing Dragon NaturallySpeaking. This is a software program that allows you to talk to your computer, have it type exactly what you say, and follow your voice commands. After I mastered the program, I taught Paul and Apples how to use Dragon NaturallySpeaking. If I get the chance to work here next year, I would gladly do it! It was a lot of fun and I learned how to do many new things. Working for the tribe was everything I thought it would be, plus a lot of fun and I learned how to do a lot more than I thought I would. Fixing computers is definitely something I would like to do for a living (when I am an adult). Gyrrad Hibdon Ninth Grade/Toledo High child’s hair. 6. Notify camps, schools, church groups, and the parents of your child’s friends if your child becomes infested. 7. Most lice cases are not incuned at school. Be aware of other possible sources of reinfestation, including visits to other homes, churches, or dubs. 8. Remember: Do not use head lice killing products to prevent head toe. Do not use lice killing products more then twice in a 1O-day period. Contact your health care provider for advice if lice are still present. Do not fumigate or spray tor prevention or treatment. This is not effective and is a health hazard. Do ask your health care provider tor guidance if the person being treated tor bead toe is pregnant, under 2 years old, has a chronic health problem such as seizures or asthma, or has been treated within the last seven days. The Tobacco Industry ... In Its Own Words “It is important to know as much as possible about teen-age smoking patterns and attitudes. Today’s teen-ager is tomorrow’s potential regular customer, and the overwhelming majority of smokers begin to smoke while in their teens ... It is during the teen-age years that the initial brand choice is made. At least a part of the success of Marlboro Red during its most rapid growth period was because it became the brand of choice among teen-agers who then stuck with it as they grew older... We will no longer be able to rely on a rapidly increasing pool of teen-agers from which to replace smokers lost through normal attrition ... Because of our high share of the market among the youngest smokers, Philip Morris will suffer more than the other companies from the decline in the number of teen-age smokers.” Myron E. Johnston Philip Morris researcher Stated in 1981 Tobacco Free Times: June/July 2000 25
