It’s Happening at Chinook Winds ... by Teresa Miller Lincoln City Antique Week Celebration The “Antique Week - Lincoln Days 2000” celebration will be held Feb. 11 to 21. Abraham Lincoln exhibits will be on display at the North Lincoln County Historical Museum, cinema history and silent movies will play at the 60-year-old Bijou Theatre, and a taste of pioneer history will be found at the Coastal Community Cultural Center during the Pioneer Cemetery Talk. On Feb. 12, an old-time social gathering will take place at the Taft High School commons, with a Redhead Round-up tribute, the Siletz Tribal dancers, and a beard contest showing the best “old growth” and “new growth” beards. The Factory Stores @ Lincoln City are “Thinkin’ Lincoln” with the largest sidewalk sale of the year. The stores will compete in a cash collection for the American Red Cross on Feb. 18-21. Bob Rau will return to Lincoln City as the antique appraiser at the Appraise-a-thon Faire on Feb. 19 at the Taft High School commons. Rau has appraised antiques for 30 years and will share his knowledge with Lincoln City antique collectors. Antique collections also will be on display. Tickets are $6 at the door. An afternoon showing of silent films takes place on Feb. 19 at the Bijou Theatre. You will see some of the famous “oldies” and hear about the history of the 60-year-old theatre. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. You’ll find many treasures at the 7th Annual Lincoln Days Quilt and Craft Faire on Feb. 19 and 20. Quilts will be on exhibit and for sale, as will a large variety of interesting crafts. Chinook Winds will have a drawing for two KIA cars on Feb. 10 and 24. You must be present to win.
