These programs, as well as many others in the past, have influenced the public’s perception of what law enforcement does. In reality, statistics show that 80 percent of our time is spent providing service to our respective communities, not writing tickets every 30 minutes or being involved in high-speed chases every shift. The Siletz Tribal Police will strive to provide all routine police service plus many things that larger departments don’t have time for. This is, of course, because the crime rate is lower and officers will have more opportunities to interact with more residents during each shift. We will not be faced with running from call to call with little time to complete reports in between. Our staff will become involved in the community that they serve, rather than just work in it. I am currently a volunteer firefighter, attend Siletz City Council meetings, and participate with the Oregon Together group that serves the Siletz Valley. 14 Name:----- -—_______________ Roll Number:__________ Address:______________________ _______________ City:_________ _______________ state:________ ZIP:________ Telephone: Day______________ _____ Evening__________ ______ Choose your first, second and third choice of committees by numbering your preference 1,2,3 in the space provided.
