In Ju ly o f 2015, O re g o n H o u s e B ill 2871 w as p a ssed w h ic h s ta te s th a t e a c h p u b lic un iversity listed in O R S 252.002, in clu d in g co m m u n ity c o lle g e s, w o u ld n eed to m ak e a p u b lic n o te , at th e tim e o f re g is tra tio n , w h ich courses h ave lo w -co st textbooks and m aterials. Probably n o t .” F r e e m a n , w h o w o rk s in th e d is ta n c e le a rn in g d e p a rtm e n t, said th a t th e ir go al is to encourage fa cu lty to consider textb o o k co st m ore, and fo r stu den ts to b rin g it up.
