Finkbein- er made promises throughout his cam paign, and w ith his election, says it’s time to start addressing them. “ Now th a t it’s been decided, it’s tim e to move forward w ith our goals," Finkbe- iner said. “I made students some prom ises and I'm going to make due on those promises.” To move forward on these goals, Fink- beiner stressed the need to get feedback and support from CCC students. “W hat I’d really like to do is get an idea o f w hat are m ost im portant issues to students and address those issues,” he said. The staff competed for awards against other two-year schools in Oregon. These schools include Lane Community College, Linn-Benton Community College, Mt. Hood Community Col lege, Central Oregon Community College and others. There was a 10-award im provem ent from last year’s five awards. Co-chief editors, Zak Laster and Erin Carey, w ere b o th excited about the awards. “ I’m incredibly proud o f th e w ork th a t w e ’ve done and how far w e’ve gotten as a class. It makes me feel good to see how much everyone has improved and I’m really happy,” Carey said. The awards include tw o best section awards: first place for news sections and second place for sports sections. The staff also w on second place fo r th e special section category for the back to school issue, first and second place for headlines, first place fo r th e series o f bond coverage articles and third place fo r best website. Individual awards were also given at the event including a th ird place award fo r form er TCP m em ber Auriana Cook’s sports story.
