New website put on hold again By Joshua Dillen Associate News Editor There has been m uch anticipation for the release o f a redesigned website at Clackamas Com m unity College. M any at the college are eagerly awaiting its debut. According to Dean Walch, C C C webmaster, the January release has beeri delayed to ensure that the new site functions as smoothly and seamlessly as possible. “We were having some performance issues with the new system. We wanted to make sure we took every opportunity to make sure the launch was a success,” said Which. “Its such an important issue that we needed to resolve prior to launch. We don’t want a site that performs poorly.” Walch and his team were experiencing load issues with the site. The simple way to describe load issues means there were problems with the new sites abil ity to handle the large am ount o f users at any given time. Since the current website performs very well in that respect, he said it was important that the new dackamas.edu should do so as well. , | . T he new rite’s release date is up in the air. Walch explained that it won’t be launched during a busy tim e like registration. I know we have a working date, but I don’t know when that is,” he said. “We nave the students’ best interests in mind.” H e thanks students for their patience and expressed that the delay is a result o f making sure the rite will perform well for them. C C C Chief Information Officer and Dean of Information technology Kim Carey is project man ager, coordinating the design and release o f the new site; she expressed the importance o f making sure all potential problems are resolved before the site goes online. Carey hopes the site will be ready for use by the end o f March. “We are still1 very confident we’ve worked through issues we have had with performance,” said Carey. “We are being carefully considerate.” & Saturdays Blues Bar and Grill ’s Best Blues Venue Cascade Blues Association B By James Duncan Design Editor - « la # NW V IA C K A M A Î O M M U N l T Y C O L L E G E D o w n lo a d o u r n e w M o b ile A p p to d a y !
