Free writing help is available for students in the Community Center. Located in the Bill Brod Community Center, in Room 140, students get one-on-one assistance with any writing assignment for any class or project. The staff, which is made up of Clackamas English facul ty, helps with comprehension, strategies for getting started, grammar, editing, organiza tion, revision, citing sources and anything else that has to do with writing. In addition, assistance with writing scholarship and entrance applications, as well as resumes, is also available. “The one thing we can’t do,” said Center Coordinator and English Instructor Carol Burnell, “is write the paper for you!” The center is open weeks two to 10 during fall, win ter and spring terms. ..While appointments are available, students can also drop in with out one. Each term, the hours vary, but times are available in the mornings and afternoons, Monday through Thursday. If funding allows, Burnell hopes to add more times in the eve nings and online, as well as more staff members. For many years, the English Department has wanted to cre ate a writing center because many faculty members have experience with writing cen ters and feel they hold great value for students. Burnell was hired to coordi nate the Writing Center because she had run the Writing Center at Portland State University, as weir as taught literature and composition classes there. The Writing Center is an excellent opportunity for stu dents and faculty. The faculty has the opportunity to work with the students individually. “I learn so much from sitting down and listening to the folks who come in to the Writing Center, and I get to see imme diate results,” said Burnell. 1,1 ■■ The Writing Center! is open CC 140 NüFÛtX) OR DRINKS ALLOWED 'lackaniasl VALENTINE FLOWER SALE Spoiiwwr wlenti ne y our cfioice.of*pinn.or . < k J Feb 13-li^iKWt In the CC MtdEfS 10a.m^2p.m. jfe 12:30 p.m.J ■ 9 2-5-07 9:20 a.m. Black Honda Civic discovered with bro ken window in Family I Resource Center parking I lot No suspects.
