Back Stage: "Rocky" director talks of process, family

iey make decisions that effect
their own set of “bylaws.
“We run by an Executive
Council, so there’s a direc­
tor, a president, a secretary
and a historian,” said Directly
Kristina Freeman, who believe
the bylaws were put into effect
so the council wouldn’t be able
to take over and turn the cast
into a tyranny.
“A lot of things are explained
in there. For instance, it says
that before any public Cabaret
event, you can’t drink or use
any type of drugs, and we have
a ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy for
that,” Freeman said.
“If somebody is late to a show
three times in a row, they’ll be
expelled from the Cabaret,”
she added, “so it’s basically a
way for the Executive Council
to run things the same between
each term. It’s a basic set of
rules, so things don’t get out of
hand and we have something to
run by so we’re not just guess­
ing.”
Despite the raunchy humor,
they pride themselves on keep­
ing a family-oriented feel to
their group, and with mem­
bers ranging in age from 14
to early-50’s, they enjoy a full
range of individual talent.
“A lot of people who get
involved are your typical
‘drama nerd,”’ said Freeman,
“but everybody brings their
own sort of unique personality
to the table, and it’s nice. We
enjoy it.”
Rocky Horror gets a lit­
tle more attention around
Halloween every year, but
the Rocky Show actors per­
form every Saturday night, all
year long (as long as weather
permits). The Clinton Street
Cabaret will be traveling to
Lincoln City on Fri., Oct. 27
and will return to their home
theater for their usual perfor­
mance on Sat., Oct. 28.

The tour is comprised of a 20-

other distinguished “haunted”
residences and locations. Also vis­
ited is the promenade overlooking
downtown Oregon City and the
Willamette Falls, smelly enough
in its own regard that it has been
known to scare off its share of
tourists.
The “spirit walk” is said to take
roughly two hours and visits about
10 different significantly spooky
locations.
Smith’s “spirit walk” com­
bines historical facts about ancient
Oregon City for the nerds and
ghoulish appeal for the goths, or
those just trying to experience the
Halloween ambiance.
People have been reporting
encounters with the supernatural in
the designated area for quite some
time, and most recently, even dur­
ing some of the tours, curious
things have reportedly occurred.
Are these places truly haunted?
Do the paranormal in fact exist?
Is there any truth to the rumors
and legends that have been passed
along for so many years? Book a
tour, and be the judge.
Tickets for this event are $12
per person. Tours are offered
at 7:30 p.m., Monday through
Thursday, and also at 9:30 p.m.t
Friday and Saturday. Two tours
will take place on Halloween -
Tuesday, the 31st.
Reservations and flashlights are
encouraged. Dress accordingly; it
may never rain at Autzen Stadium,
but everywhere else in Oregon is
susceptible to sporadic downpours.
