Blood drive 'saves lives
ASG is siphoning student blood
for a good cause.
They have coordinated with the
American Red Cross to put togeth
er this term’s blood drive. The
blood drive will take place next
Wednesday in the Gregory Forum,
from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students
cap sign up until 2:30 p.m. that day,
through the ASG office.
“We coordinate with the Red
Cross,” said ASG President Tim
Lussier. “We set everything up, get
the word out to students ... we do
about everything except draw the
blood.”
Donors must be 16 years old
and weigh at lea^t 110 pounds.
The Red Cross says that before
donating, students should have had
a good night’s sleep and break
fast or lunch. They should also
drink extra water and fluids,
and avoid fatty foods such as
fries, hamburgers, or ice cream.
At the blood drive, donors
will ga through four different
steps. They will register (if they
haven’t already though ASG),
have a healthy history and mini
physical, donate blood, and then
relax and have some refresh
ments.
“It’s important,” said Lussier,
about donating blood. “People
seem to have fun, and you can
save lives.”
