Mengarelli hit the free throw to give the Yaks a 63-62 lead. The Cougars missed a shot at the other end, and Mengarelli hit two free throws with two seconds left for the final margin. Hunt led Clackamas with 14 points and seven rebounds, but only shot 4-17 from the field. Reeves also had 14 points and added four rebounds, while Hill had 12 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Cooper had a great game in the post for the Cougars with nine points, 17 rebounds and four blocks. Mengarelli had a game-high 28 points, hitting 17-18 free throws for the victorious Yaks. Tiffanie Ulmer added 11 points for Yakima Valley. The loss dropped the Cougars into a fourth-place semifinal matchup with division-rival Umpqua CC on Saturday, and in a great offensive game by both teams, the Timberwomen sent Clackamas packing for home with a 98-92 victory. “Both teams came off the opening tip and shot fights out for pretty much the entire game,” said Martineau. “Especially after the halftime break. We tried to keep up, but Umpqua just wouldn’t let up. We played pretty good defense throughout, but they got more breaks than we did, and that is tournament basketball.” Hill closed her outstanding Clackamas career with a game- high 33 points on 13-24 shooting, and added five rebounds and five assists. Reeves was right behind Hill with a 32-point effort on 10- 19 shooting and had six rebounds. Hunt capped an outstanding fresh man season with 15 points and seven rebounds, including shoot ing 11-12 at the free-throw line. The Cougars shot 30-66 from the field for 46 percent, and converted 26-31 free throws for the game. Umpqua got 22 points from Ashley Chambers, and all- NWAACC Tournament first- teamer Moina Snyder had 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Timberwomen placed five players in double figures and outrebound ed the Cougars by a wide 53-27 margin. Clackamas ended their sea son with a 24-6 record, including a 13-1 record in the Southern Division.
