In the occasion of a college power outage the pumps shut down and only the city water continues to flow. The pumps come back up automatically when power is restored. “We walk through and check everything [after an outage],” said Pearson. “It depends on the length of the outage. There was a very bad storm in the late ‘80s, I think. We were without power for a couple, three days.
