Look at our neighbors to the north. Until this season, the Seattle Supersonics had a hit- and-miss existence as an NBA - franchise. But just as the NBA season was ending, Seattle sports fans had another dis traction just begin ning their season, the Mariners. Then when the baseball season winded to a close, the Seahawks would begin another NFL season. One of those teams was bound to have a decent season, so the Emerald City sports | junkie could get a satisfactory fix. Not so in River City. The Blazers are really all we have. And if you are like me, you seem to live and die with the boys in red and black. So another season has ended, and all of the naysay ers have come out from under their rocks to utter all that is bad, while offer- ing no solutions as to what good should happen. The Blazers will be good again, but it may not happen for a while. It should begin with a coach who knows the pro game and who can be a disci plinarian. Flip Saunders had a good run as the Minnesota Timberwolves’ coach and the Blazers should offer some of. Paul Alien’s bankroll to this guy. He would he a great choice and the true fans of the team would embrace him. The false fans would wait for the next indiscretion. Keep Shareef Abdur- Rahim and trade Zach Randolph. Tell Darius Miles to earn some of the $48 million that this team foolishly signed him for last summer, and if he wants to tell the new coach to f*** I off during a film session, then waive him. Sign Joel Przybilla to an extension, and giye Theo Ratliff the time he needs to heal his injuries. Hand the ball and the reins of the team to Sebastian Telfair and give the young man all the support in the world. Hold on to Travis Outlaw, this kid is going to be the next Jermaine O’Neal and we all know what happened to O’Neal with a little playing time. This team is going in the right direction. The play of the team was very encouraging in the lat ter stages of the season. The wins were not there, but they will come in time. So to all of the bandwagon fans out there: Give the team your support during the good times and the bad. Every NBA team has had good and bad stretches during their existences, and the good times will come around again for our beloved Blazers. Everyone is entitled to their opin ion, but some people, including myself, would love to hear solu tions, not the bitchiness that we read every day. letters to the Editor March article on part-time focalty incomplete coverage Believe it or not, I haven’t had a chance to e- mail you since the Part Time Faculty Recognition Ceremony in March but I was really disappointed with the article that was written. First of all, the article explaining the event was missing. I thought there would be a write-up of some sort stating the who, what, where, why, when and how. Secondly, the picture didn’t have any Part Time Faculty in it and the captions were not accu rate. The people in the picture were all Full-time Faculty, which defeats the purpose. Part Timers are not recognized regularly on this campus. To top it off, the article above our picture was of your newspaper staff s retreat. It was a huge article and picture of you guys. Our annual Part Time Faculty recognition seemed like more of a priority than your training/conference. It was just really disappointing because lots of people e-mailed me, asking what the event was.
