JUMP START YOUR DEGREE Amy SaHdell l The Clackamas Print Just when you thought that good scary movies were a thing of the past, “Hide and Seek” comes along and reinvents the word suspense, leaving its audi ence at the edge of their seats. Dr. David .Calloway (Robert DeNiro) discovers that his daugh ter Emily (Dakota Fanning) has come up with a terrifying way of dealing with her mother’s death by creating an imaginary friend named Charlie. Throughout the film, Dr. Calloway discovers that Charlie might not be so make-believe. This film does an excellant job of captivating the audience. “Hide and Seek” fully grasped my attention within the first 20 minutes. The cast could not have been DeNIRO more perfect. DeNiro does not play his typical tough “gang ster” role in this film, although his many years of experience contribute to making his charac ter so real. Dakota Fanning has an extraordinary performance as well despite her young age and previous films. Unlike the typical thriller that can usually be figured out half way through the plot, this story leads you down a winding path that ends in a way you would have never thought possible. All in all, “Hide and Seek” was not the typical, predicable thriller that I was expecting. This movie was shocking, powerful, and suspenseful, leaving my need for a good scary movie totally fulfilled. Good Show.
