Delzell The Clackamas Print With seven straight wins the Cougar Lady Basketbailers don’t look to renege on last year’s NWAACC Championship. In only their third league game this season, the Lady Cougars dismantled Mt. Hood CC last Wednesday 82-23. L’Trece Prewitt led the way with 15 points and seven steals. LaToya Hill, who is averaging 18.1 points per game in league play, flowed her way to 12 points; she also snatched eight steals. The Lady Cougars also took opt Southwestern CC on Jan. 8 68-36. In their league opener on Jan. 5, the Cougars proved that they are the queens of the NWAACC south as they defeated Chemeketa (CHCC) CC 69-68 in front of the home crowd. Last season, CCC bat tled and conquered CHCC for the NWAACC championship, giving them their first title. In the NWAACC champi onship rematch, Hill led the Holla’ at your boy!!! Vanessa Schmitz’s double double of 11 points and 14 rebounds proved to be too much Cougar for the Storm to handle. The Cougars were also victorious in the Chemeketa Holiday tournament on Nov. 28; they were able to oust Wenatchee Valley CC in the Championship game 62-57. Rochelle Reeves was the leading scorer for the Cougars with 18 points. Hill was her usual self scoring 16 and pull ing down 9 rebounds. Schmitz added 12 points and was able to dominate the key with 12 rebounds. Earlier in the season the Cougars beat Willamette JV, placed third in the Greys: Harbor tournament, lost to Centralia, beat Blue Mt. twice, and placed second in the CCC Thanksgiving Invitational losing to Umpqua CC in the tournament final.
