ESPN programming goes over the top with abominable shows ting a good night’s sleep and I went to, 1 '2SPN.com to do some research. 1 found that ESPN runs a myriad 1 was kickin’ it at home late of other so-called sports programs. Jumping on the reality TV band Saturday night when I tried to find Blazer highlights. All 1 wanted to wagon, they run the programs, know was who won the dang ball “Beg, Borrow and Deal” and game and all I could get was the “Dream job.” National Spelling Bee on 12SPN, “Bieg, Borrow and Deal” ¡is a and on 12SPN2 all I could come up show where contestants literally beg, bdrrow and deal their way with was poker. So here I am late at night, n<5f across the country earning sports wanting to take the energy to go prizes along the way. If 1 was a deal vyith my dial-up Internet and sucka then this might be' entertain- the only channel that is running any ing. Then there’s “Drcam Job,” kind of real sports coverage is CNN’s “1 leadline News.” Finally, 1 where contestants vie to earn a get a two-second glimpse of the ■year-long contract to be an anchor Blazer game and 1 find myself on “Sportsccntcr.” Hopefully they somewhat relieved—Blazer victory make the winner cover the “World Scries of /Poker.” And don’t even by twenty, gangsta! Then 1 got to thinking, why get me started on the whole World docs FSPN, “the worldwide leader Series and Poker connection; trust me, bodies and tables will fly. in sports,” cover, a card game? In addition to reality television, Come on y’all, 1 know I’m not the only one who has beef with ESPN hits us with three talk shows: cards on TV. Where is the action, “Pardon The Interruption (PT1),” where is the entertainment, where “Rome is Burning” and “Around' is the sport in cards?!? Don’t the Horn.” PT1 is great, no beef answer if you disagree, just keep there. Jim Rome is'punk, who likes to get punked and “Around the reading. I then sacrificed all hope of get Horn” is just atrocious. Nic Delzell S ports E ditor As my search continued, my stomach felt even worse when 1 found out that ESPN had a foot ball soap opera entitled “Playmakers.” 1 have seen this one a few times, but 1 gave up when the lead- character started smoking crack during football games. If 1 went on about this show we might have another curse-word controvsy. FSPN needs to do a little more thinking and a little less drinking, liven if 1 was crunkcr than crunk could be on Crunkday, I wouldn’t really watch anything on FSPN, other than . “Sportsccntcr,” NBA coverage and the occasional “Strong Man Competition.” I just want FSPN to go back to the days before Stuart Scott became a television wordsmith. •Out, gone, peace, bye-bye and 1 may never watch the trick box again (that’s TV, fo’ y’all squares).
